WHAT IS A DRUM CIRCLE?
A drum circle is a musical situation where the participants thereof sit or stand in a circle with their respective drums and play together in a group. The underlying principle being fun, a drum circle acts a metaphor to address a range of issues; some of them being:
• Stress management
• Confidence building
• Community building
• Unleashing the full potential of oneself
• Physical and mental well being
• Coordination improvement
• Awareness and attention building
WHO CAN TAKE PART?
Anyone between the ages of 9 – 99 with the openness to experience something novel, unique and therapeutic can be a part of this activity. NOTE – No prior musical experience required.
WHEN AND WHERE?
Every Saturday, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm, at The Urban Ashram, 34 Mukundnagar, Opposite Sujay Gardens, Pune – 411037.
WHO?
Varun Venkit is a Masters graduate in Clinical Psychology, Pune University and an experienced drummer currently playing the drums with the indo-rock outfit, Agnee. He has been associated with drumming and drum circles for over 6 years and counting. He has worked with people from various backgrounds using drums and music as a therapeutic intervention.
